What is the Future Teachers Pathway Initiative?
The Future Teachers Pathway Initiative is a two-year program designed by iUrban Teen where Vancouver School District graduates have the opportunity to get involved with their former elementary and middle schools to make a positive impact on a young person. Selected interns will have the chance to reengage with their schools in the Vancouver School District. This program is in partnership with Vancouver Public Schools, Washington Sate University – Vancouver, and Clark College.
What does the internship entail?
Selected interns will have the chance to reengage with Vancouver Public Schools and provide mentoring to students, which could include lunch buddies, playground activity support, small group and individual tutoring, and more. Additionally, interns will receive training to help them develop professional competency and explore a potential pathway in education.
What is the duration of the internship?
Interns will work for a total of 60 hours for the length of their internship. Interns will be placed in either a 4-week (15 hours/week) or a 10-week (6 hours/week) duration between November 2021-June 2023 (internship length can be adjusted to accommodate different needs and schedules).
Is this a paid internship?
Yes! Selected interns will receive $1,000 for working a total of 60 hours (approximately $16/hour).
